Ionic membranes are arranged between the electrode plates in the electrolytic cell, and an aqueous solution containing water-soluble cations can be prepared at the negative electrode of the electrode plates in the electrolytic cell, commonly known as electrolytic alkaline ionized water.
According to Faraday's law of electrolysis, the main dissolved substance in ordinary tap water is neutral salt calcium sulfate. After a certain DC power and time of electrolysis, a considerable proportion of calcium sulfate is separated and precipitated by electrolysis. Positive (calcium) ions precipitate towards the negative electrode and attract hydroxide ions to approach, making the aqueous solution alkaline.
The stronger the electrolysis power, the longer the electrolysis time (the larger the area of the electrolysis plate or the smaller the flow rate), and the influence of factors such as cation activity. The higher the pH value of alkaline ion water, the higher the concentration of hydrated cation (calcium) ions.
Similarly, if chloride (sodium chloride) components are dissolved in the aqueous solution before electrolysis, the cations precipitated by electrolysis are hydrated sodium ions.
